Territorial Airwaves - "George Kainapau - Hawaii's Falsetto King" - (5/18/2012)

George Kainapau was Hawaii’s Falsetto King.
In 1957, he was performing at the Ale Ale Kai Room in the then Kaiser Hawaiian Village Hotel.
His Island Serenaders group consisted of Sonny Kamahele, Kaipo Miller, and Jules Ah See.
One evening, J Douglas Allen & his young bride, Toni, persuaded George to let them tape record his show by attaching their microphone to the one stage center mic the group used.
Cord International has just released a CD of this recording restored 55 years after it was recorded.

The Moloka'i Trio consisted of Abraham Dudoit, a fisherman & county worker, his wife Ann Enos Dudoit, and Lisa Enos Paleka, her sister.

Territorial Airwaves - "Mama Rachel Mahuiki & Kawai Cockett" - 4/27/2012

Rachel N. Mahuiki was born on April 24, 1913, and we lost her on January 21, 1996.
Her son, Kawai Cockett, lived from September 24, 1938 to September 20, 2006.
As Kawai gained fame and recognition as a premiere entertainer in the traditional style, he dreamed of featuring his Mama Rachel on one of his recordings.
In 1983, “Kawai – Hula Hou”, fulfilled a son’s wish.

Territorial Airwaves - "My Son Pua Almeida" - 4/20/2012

John Celestino “Kameaaloha” Almeida was born on November 28, 1897, and we lost him on October 9, 1985.
The “Dean of Hawaiian Music” gave us many beautiful songs, but his proudest gift was his son, Pua.
Charleston “Pua” Almeida was born on February 17, 1923.
Annie Almeida, Johnny’s younger sister, hanai’d her infant son to Johnny & his wife, Elizabeth.
Johnny immersed Pua in Hawaiian music and song.
In 1960, Johnny and Pua teamed up on a memorable stereo recording for Waikiki Records.
