I began working with Michael and Maryanne Cord in 1991.
Our dream was to take recordings from Territorial Airwaves archives, restore them using newly developed state of the art computer technology, and release them as compact discs, for all Hawaiian music enthusiasts to enjoy and learn.
We felt that the music must once again be heard, and that the Hawaiian music community would appreciate it.
And we were right!
After being awarded our 1st Hoku Award for an earlier Cord International CD, we chose to release all of the Bell Records sides of both the Kalima Brothers and the Richard Kauhi Quartette, because Richard Kauhi played piano in both groups, who recorded 2 years apart in 1946 and 1948.

History of Slack Key Guitar - 1995

We felt that the music must once again be heard, and that the Hawaiian music community would appreciate it.

George Winston of Dancing Cat Records asked us to release the very 1st 20 slack key recordings made in the post-war 1940s on the Bell, 49th State, and Aloha Records labels. The resulting CD was called “History of Slack Key Guitar”.
