Soria Jr. and steel guitarist Alan Akaka, founder of the event. The decision to start the festival at 5 p.m. instead of noon like last year made things much more comfortable for the audience. Harry B. Soria, Jr. holds a vintage bakelite beauty, a 1937 Rickenbacher laptop steel guitar. Per Addison Ching, " This is a Model B Second Generation (tone control added). Many pre-war Rickys had only a single volume control. Note the spelling on the nameplate - Rickenbacher - which was later changed to Rickenbacker. This model has a 1.5" horseshoe magnet which is gives the Ricky its distinctive Hawaiian steel sound." (Photo: Keith Haugen)
