Charlotte Iwalani Wilson was born on January 25, 1934, in Waihee, Maui, Hawaii.
She began singing at age 6 for USO shows. Her career brought her to Honolulu where she eventually performed in many of Waikiki’s finest venues.
Iwa became a featured vocalist in the Alfred Apaka show, and later a member of the Halekulani Girls,
and a regular on the “Hawaii Calls” radio show.
Iwa married Sam Kahalewai and became Iwalani Kahalewai.
We lost Sam on November 20, 2008, and Iwalani joined him in Hula Heaven on August 4, 2009.
Today, we share some of her most morable recordings.
