Myra English Gibbs graced our world from February 22, 1933 to March 29, 2001.
She was just 68 when she left us.
After graduating from Maui High School in 1951, she came to Honolulu to pursue college, and a career in entertainment.
Soon she was performing on radio and television, and clubs all over the islands.
Her long-running gig in the Blue Dolphin Room of the Outrigger Hotel, with Sonny Chillingworth and Billy Hew Len made her a star.
Her 1974 and 1975 albums were extremely popular.
We’ll share those recordings from the 1970s with you.
