In 1951, three Hawaiian musicians took a gig at the Tahitian Hut in Los Angeles, California.
Harry Baty, Sam Ka’apuni, and Bob Nichols called themselves The Polynesians.
Beginning in 1960, the Polynesians recorded eleven albums for Crown Records.
Guest Hawaiian artists were often featured on their recordings, including Sam Koki, Freddie and Ernie Tavares, Bernie Ka’ai, Lani Sang, and Ben Chapman.
In this program, almost 60 years later, we’ll share this memorable music.
