In 1967, Hula Records agreed to record members of the next generation of Hawaiian music.
Frank “Palani” Vaughan Jr., a 23-year old baritone was featured with the new group, “Sunday Manoa”, led by his former classmate at the University of Hawaii, Peter Moon, also 23.
Peter played standard and 6-string ukulele, and slack key guitar.
18-year old slack key guitarist, Cyril Pahinui, and 25-year old bassist, Albert “Baby” Kalima rounded out the group with a new youthful sound.
In this program, 50+ years later, we’ll share this memorable music.
