In 1971, Hula Records released an album produced by Don McDiarmid, Jr., called “Sunset At Makaha”, featuring Agnes Malabey Weisbarth & the Makaha Serenaders.
Agnes Kealanohea Malabey was born on September 20, 1922, and she passed away at the age of 55 on October 3, 1977.
She performed for decades, remembered for her broadcasts with the Transit Hawaiians on KGU Radio, her popular 49th State recordings, and her long-term engagements at Waikiki hotels.
Her final musical home was at the Makaha Inn.
The Makaha Serenaders featured:
Agnes Malabey Weisbarth on ukulele & lead vocals;
Agnes Wood on guitar and harmony vocals;
Sarah Huihui on guitar and harmony vocals;
& Clem Kamakea on acoustic standup bass & vocals.
