In 1969, Hula Records released an album produced by Don McDiarmid, Jr., called, “Beautiful Kaua’i”, featuring Kawai Cockett.
Kawai Keanianiulaokalani Cockett was born in Puko’o, Molokai on September 24, 1938, and he passed away in Kaneohe, O’ahu at the age of 67 on September 20, 2006.
For this, his debut album, Kawai played ukulele and sang lead vocals.
His cousin, Charles Morton, played guitar.
His youngest brother, Puna Mahuiki, played electric guitar.
And the bass was played by Herman Wong & Bobby Pa’aluhi.
