I began working with Michael and Maryanne Cord in 1991.
Our dream was to take recordings from Territorial Airwaves archives, restore them using newly developed state of the art computer technology, and release them as compact discs, for all Hawaiian music enthusiasts to enjoy and learn.
We felt that the music must once again be heard, and that the Hawaiian music community would appreciate it.
And we were right!
We released restored recordings from the 49th State label, but then we licensed the Bell label as well.
Our 1st Aloha Records catalog release in 1995 was called “Aloha Hula Hawaiian Style”.
Happily, the CD earned a Hoku Award for Anthology of the Year.
Today, we’ll hear memorable selections from our 3rd CD release in 1995, courtesy of the Territorial Airwaves archives.
