Kahauanu Lake was born in Wailuku, Maui, on January 1, 1932, and we lost him on March 6, 2011 at the age of 79.
The singer, musician, arranger, composer, ukulele teacher, and mentor formed the “Kahauanu Lake Trio” in 1955, and headlined at the Kaimana Beach Hotel, the Queen Kapiolani Hotel, the Halekulani Hotel, and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel.
In later years, he continued his legacy with the birth of the Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame & Museum.
Today, we’ll hear memorable Kahauanu Lake recordings, courtesy of the Territorial Airwaves archives.
