Noelani Kanoho Mahoe, already a professional entertainer with “Leo Nahenahe Singers”, a recording artist, a mother, and an eduator, began teaching children to sing Hawaiian songs at Blanche Pope Elementary School in Waimanalo, O’ahu.
During Noelani Mahoe’s tenure as Hawaiian culture teacher at Pope Elementary from 1970 to 1980, she led the kids to concerts on big stages, performances on the mainland and Japan, and several recording sessions resulting in two albums.
Today, we’ll celebrate the early recorded legacy of Waimanalo Keiki from the Territorial Airwaves archives.
