Keli'i Tau'a - 2017 Lifetime Achievement

Merriwell Keli’i Tau’a was born on July 27, 1942, in Kula, Maui, the youngest of 14 children.
Keli’i was fortunate to be selected to be a boarding student at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama campus on O’ahu.
Beginning in the early 1970s, he began studying hula & chant with Nona Beamer, Maiku Aiu, and Kaui Zuttermeister.
In 1976, he formed his first musical group to perform his own compositions: Na Keonimana.
In 2017, Keli’i Tau’a was recognized by the Hawaii Academy of Recording Arts with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
