Territorial Airwaves - "My Son Pua Almeida" - 4/20/2012

John Celestino “Kameaaloha” Almeida was born on November 28, 1897, and we lost him on October 9, 1985.
The “Dean of Hawaiian Music” gave us many beautiful songs, but his proudest gift was his son, Pua.
Charleston “Pua” Almeida was born on February 17, 1923.
Annie Almeida, Johnny’s younger sister, hanai’d her infant son to Johnny & his wife, Elizabeth.
Johnny immersed Pua in Hawaiian music and song.
In 1960, Johnny and Pua teamed up on a memorable stereo recording for Waikiki Records.
Join us now for “My Son Pua”, as we share their memorable 1960 recording five decades later!
